There was a field, a ruin nobody remembered the name of, and a fire someone lit far too early in the evening.

There were the people you would lose touch with, and the one you would not. A song everyone somehow knew the words to. A car with the roof down, going nowhere in particular, taking its time getting there.

The clothes were never the point. They were just what you happened to be wearing when it all happened. Which is exactly why you still recognize them forty years later.
